THE LAST ONE IS DEAD
LP 1998
Cut-Up-Contrsuctions Rec.

BLACK-GREY-WAVE
The idea for the object THE LAST ONE IS DEAD was born in 1993 during cutting process of an extensive video part, in which a man is tom to pieces by a crocodile. In order to compile a installation-video we had to transform a one-minute scene into a video of half an hour length --- through ping-pong-copying the VHS-tape --- while the image on the screen only showed a black-grey wave. More or less - black in black. Only a faint rustling and moaning could be heard.

After repeatedly playing the tape we fell into something like a state of trance & the image on the screen disappeared in infinite repetition. The rustling and moaning remained detached, absurdly trapped in a kind of death comedy. You could smell it.
A moment of lucidity & confusion.

Is it necessary to make reality & its constructed being tangible?
As a weapon against the self-consuming symbolism of art, ego and one's own organs of perception. Yes!
As part of the poetry of life.

A path with different results /// with different goals.
